Our Basic Approach to Safety & Quality
Safety & Quality Philosophy
At the NIKKON Group, we understand that safety is the most important issue in business operation. Based on this understanding, we make group-wide efforts to ensure workplace safety, prevention of traffic accidents, and provision of high-quality services in practical operation, secure employees' safety (including safety from infection) and healthy lifestyles of employees, and engage in activities for responding to confidence of customers and society.
Safety & Quality Policies
- Understand that ensuring safety is a social mission in the management of the Group, ensure that all employees understand its importance, and take action together.
- Respect human life and ensure that every employee has ownership and takes the initiative in the prevention of accidents.
- Comply with relevant laws, regulations, and other rules and act in accordance with the Three Actuals Principle (the actual place, the actual situation and the actual goods).
- Build a safe, secure business environment through the proactive occupational health management of workplaces and by striving to improve the workplace environment and promote the good health of employees.
- Improve the driving skills and other skills of employees through driving skills competitions to prevent accidents and contribute to society in terms of safety.
- Ensure safety and maintain stable quality through small group activities, improvement activities, and other initiatives and introduce advanced ideas and technologies to provide reliable, high-quality services to fulfill the expectations of all stakeholders.
- Encourage Group companies to share information and technologies with each other to improve safety and quality.
- Establish strong disaster control measures and BCP measures to prepare for major natural disasters.
Promotion Framework
We have established the ANS (All Nikkon Safety) Association involving the 12 operating companies in Japan, aiming to increase safety awareness and promote activities to prevent traffic accidents through advanced driving skill and knowledge competitions.

Our Safety Management Structure
The NIKKON Group has established a safety management structure through the united efforts of all of its employees and officers, from top management to the people working on the front lines, in accordance with the transportation safety management system established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism.
We ensure our safety administrator formulates the annual plan on transportation safety based on safety management rules and safety management procedures and implements the PDCA cycle of planning, checking, and correction to improve transportation safety.
At our overseas subsidiaries, we have built safety management structures in accordance with the laws and rules of each country. To enhance the effectiveness of senior management's site inspections and management, we have established a system that enables organizational management through coordination between people working on the front lines and the administrative department. Regular meetings are held at each business site to review performance and achievements and identify problems and issues, to enable improvement.

Certification of Business Facilities with Excellent Safety
This certification program fairly evaluates, certifies, and publicly announces the safety of truck transportation service providers to build an environment which enables users of the services to select providers with a higher level of safety. Many of the NIKKON Group's business sites providing truck transportation services in Japan have acquired this certification.

Safe Driving Manager Activities
As a company supporting the research and development of automobiles, Auto Technic Japan provides the following safe driving training based on the idea that driving, the product of the company, must never cause injury or damage.

Public License to Train Test Drivers
The development of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) has entered the phase of test driving on public roads. Against this background, we give our own test to certify safe driving skills and knowledge on on-the-road driving to examine our drivers with clear criteria and ensure the safety of our employees and their operation. For qualified drivers who have passed these tests, we began to manage their license to do test driving on public roads on October 1, 2018.

Initiatives to Prevent Accidents (Outside Japan)
Safety Training
- Provision of new driver training, safety lectures, and on-the-job training regarding driving and operations
- Face-to-face training of new drivers under Japanese standards, including face-to-face roll call and training using digital tachograph data.
- Lectures improving understanding of truck performance and design taught by external lecturers
Tools and Systems to Prevent Accidents
- Installation of digital tachographs and automotive cameras
- Introduction of a system preventing drowsy driving and a GPS monitoring system
- Installation of safety lights and rear lights on forklifts
- Stickers alerting truck drivers to maintain distancing from other vehicles
Initiatives of NK Parts Industries, Inc. (United States)
Training provided at this company includes lectures on the prevention of accidents from the perspective of human engineering, and first aid and AED training. The company also introduced the Omnitrucks fleet management system (GPS, driving recorder, capability of recognizing traffic signs, and driving route optimization) in its trucks.
Initiatives of NIPPON KONPO VIETNAM CO., LTD. (Vietnam)
The company conducts traffic safety patrols daily (inspecting the driving of its own vehicles and the external vehicles the company has arranged on customers' premises and on general roads). The company also holds lectures to improve employees' understanding of truck performance and design taught by external lectures (from Isuzu and Hino). The company also holds internal driving competitions and forklift operation competitions twice a year.
Initiatives of A.N.I. LOGISTICS, LTD. (Thailand)
On the company's premises, it has established a training center certified by the labor department of Thailand. At this facility, the company provides training for workers from other local subsidiaries in Thailand and training for external workers and other companies, not to mention internal training focused on lectures and practical skills. The company issues diplomas certified by the labor department of Thailand to people who have completed training,
Initiatives to Improve Safety and Quality
ANS (All Nikkon Safety) Driving Skills Competition
We hold the ANS National Driving Skills Competition to increase safety awareness and promote activities for the prevention of traffic accidents through this high-level driving skill and knowledge competition.
It is one of the global safety skills competitions of the NIKKON Group. Employees from affiliates in Japan and other countries are selected to participate. A total of more than 1,500 people participated in the 6th competition held in fiscal 2021.
- The event was cancelled in fiscal 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fiscal 2021 (6th) competition was held in Japan alone, on a region-by-region basis.
Outline of the Competition
- Practical skills: Confirming safety by ensuring basic movements
- Truck category (tractor-trailers, heavy-duty trucks, and light trucks): Participants are judged on their correct confirmation of safety
- Forklift category: Participants are judged on their safety confirmation and work procedures
- Written test: Test on laws and regulations, vehicle design and the basics of practical operations
Participation in the National Forklift Driving Skills Competition
The NIKKON Group proactively participates in the National Forklift Driving Skills Competition hosted by Land Transportation Safety & Health Association, aiming to enhance its employees' awareness of safety and improve their driving skills. We strive to increase employee motivation, ensure workplace safety, and prevent occupational accidents.
